Transmission electron microscopy from first principles

Our abTEM code is built for ab initio scattering potentials and is the fastest and most modern simulation tool for transmission electron microscopy.

First principles simulations are invaluable aids in predicting and interpreting experimental electron microscopy images and spectra. Making use of the open source Python ecosystem, our in-house abTEM code is the fastest and most modern simulation tool for transmission electron microscopy – and the only one built for first principles scattering potentials.

The code has seen excellent uptake by the community since its release in 2021, with significant activity on GitHub on its open-source code, and its software tool article quickly closing in on 100 citations.
