Academic curriculum vitae

  • Studies: Ph.D. studies in Physics & Mathematics at the University of Vienna, Austria 1970-78
  • Habilitation 1992 in Solid State Physics
  • Professor 1997
  • Guest Professor at the Universite de Metz, France (1999) and at the Universite Louis Pasteur Strasbourg, France (2008)
  • Member of the “International NanoSPD Steering Committee" (since 2002)
  • Member of Board of European Materials Research Society E-MRS (since 2005).

Recent research interests:

  • plasticity of large strain deformation in metals, semicrystalline polymers and fullerenes, properties of nanocrystalline materials
  • Severe Plastic Deformation: Role of hydrostatic pressure and of deformation path in realization of ultrafine grained and/or nanocrystalline structures in bulk metals
  • characterization of ultrafine grained  and/or nanocrystalline structures by X-ray Bragg Profile Analysis, under use of Synchrotron radiation for high resolution in space and time. Use of supplementary measuring methods for identification of lattice defects and internal stresses, i.e. residual electrical resistivity, calorimetry, positron annihilation spectroscopy, small angle neutron scattering, Barkhausen noise and coercivity
