Complex Systems and Hybrid Materials
We study the structure and properties of novel low-dimensional materials, in particular graphene and other layered systems. Our aim is to elucidate the relationship between structural modifications and their effect on the electronic, optical, chemical, thermal, and mechanical properties. We employ cutting edge microscopic analysis and also develop new methods to study the sometimes highly radiation sensitive atomic configurations. Moreover, we use microscopic tools to manipulate graphene and related materials at the atomic level.
